The St. Joseph Parish Journey of Grace 150 renovations include significant updates to the Parish Center (formerly the old grade school building).
Those renovations are nearing completion, as construction crews finalize interior finishes and exterior landscaping. The renovated building will soon be ready to accommodate more parishioners and guests for wedding and funeral planning, adult and youth faith formation, volunteer committee meetings and parish business operations. Highlights of the Parish Center's renovations include:
A building elevator.
The much-needed elevator will make all three floors handicap-accessible. This building never had an elevator, even when it served as home to the parish school.
This three-story building needed air conditioning throughout parish offices, Christian Formation, Youth Ministry and meeting spaces. The A/C system was retrofit into the 60-year-old building, providing cooler environments during the hottest months of the year and energy-efficient climate control for staff members, volunteers and visitors.
New, energy-efficient windows have been installed on the first and third floors. The operational windows improve the appearance of the building, while providing more comfortable conditions inside the meeting rooms, offices and common areas.
New building entrance and landscaping.
An enclosed front porch/entrance area and new landscaping will improve the building’s curb appeal. Parking was modified slightly for the Parish Center parking lot, but parking for the Adoration Chapel was not affected.
The recent cold and icy conditions have been challenging for the renovation crews, but the final touches of landscaping should be completed in the coming weeks.
