At the heart of our renovations is the desire to make St. Joseph Church easier to access for parishioners and guests. This site plan rendering shows a brand new, accessible entrance from King Street, into a generous covered drop-off area on the east side of the church. The entire entrance area will be on flat, level ground without stairs.
The new narthex/expanded vestibule area will extend beyond the current front of the church north toward Johnson Drive. The driveway will be removed and a new walkway, sign and landscaping will be installed. Notable features include:
A flat front entrance that is accessible to all.
Parishioners who use canes, walkers, wheelchairs, or need special assistance will no longer have to climb crumbling stairs or navigate inclines to enter church.
A new main entrance and covered drop-off area.
Bridal parties, funeral vehicles, and anyone who needs assistance or protection from the elements will enter through a new main entrance on the east side with a covered drop-off area.
Enhanced landscaping and updated parking.
The east parking lot will accommodate more accessible spaces and new landscaping will accompany the changes to the north and east exterior areas.
